Why Do People Hate Poetry?

Even the poet Marianne Moore said, “I, too, dislike it.”
Is it the way poetry’s taught? Is poetry too elitist or highfalutin?
Is it just too much work? These and other questions will highlight
our investigation into why, in the last or even first analysis,
most people rate poetry as enjoyable as going to the dentist.
